One day I was trying to throw a plate and it completely flopped on the wheel. Instead of throwing the disc of clay into the bucket, the muscle memory in my fingers folded it into a dumpling. I was DELIGHTED. Since then, I've been playing around with different glazes and experimenting with adding little balls of clay into the dumpling (since it's a dumpling, it needs some kind of filling...) which, in addition to the smooth tactile pleasure of the folds, also adds an auditory and functional aspect to its design.
